Swale Pit
Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) concepts typically require effective means of stormwater reuse for residential and commercial subdivisions. Design principals for WSUD take into consideration an efficient solution that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also cost-effective.
The Swale Pit is a product innovation from James Hardie which has been developed to allow the integration of roofwater from dwellings and other impermeable surfaces. The slotted pit body and outlets allow for the disposal of surface runoff from the road reserve and then infiltrate into the absorption trenches. When the rainfall is in excess of the infiltration rate, it diverts the excess to firstly the absorption trenches, and in heavier flows combines with the surface flows along the grassed swale.
The Swale Pit can be provided in a variety of configurations to suit a range of design conditions. There are two typical swale pit configurations. The first is a Discharge Pit which has a 100mm PVC inlet and 100mm PVC outlet facility, and has a two piece body to allow for rotation of the inlet and outlet. The second is a Surcharge Pit which has only the one 100mm PVC inlet. The Swale Pit is based on a 300mm nominal diameter FRC pipe body with 5mm x 290mm slots.

James Hardie is a world leader in fibre cement, developing quality, engineered solutions for building and drainage applications.
With our ongoing commitment to the development and integration of our fibre cement technology, James Hardie has emerged as one of the most progressive, innovative companies across the globe. The James Hardie product range combines high quality, cost effective building systems for residential and commercial buildings, and high performance pipeline products for above and below ground stormwater drainage applications. The benefits inherent in fibre cement continue to deliver real value to clients throughout design, installation, and operation.Drainage Solutions
James Hardie Pipes recognise that drainage design benefits from the integration of quality componentry to provide a versatile and cost effective solution. This has been the driving force behind the intensive development of James Hardie’s range of pipes, fittings, pit systems, stormwater treatment devices, and product innovations such as the SlimDrain™ pavement system, slotted pipe system and median barrier. This comprehensive range enables designers to employ the cost benefits and performance levels of fibre reinforced concrete throughout stormwater drainage projects.
